PhD students should note the following points during their studies:

Any change of address or cellular phone number must be immediately notified to the Education Office.

  • Educational information shall be posted on the Education Office bulletin board and published on the Education Office website. Therefore, students are advised to regularly check the Education Office bulletin board and website.
  • Students may enroll in their courses of choice every semester. Therefore, students should take note of course enrollment and add/drop periods.
  • Students should take a course they have failed for any reason in the first semester it is offered.
  • Students who are faculty members or employed in other institutions are required to renew their secondment documents every year, and provide evidence of unpaid leave from their workplace if their employer rejects their application for secondment.
  • Granting of applications for teaching assistant salaries shall be subject to the submission of a notarized letter of commitment for the duration of the study to the Education Office.
  • Full-time attendance by all PhD students is mandatory.
  • Since all correspondence is carried out through the automation system, students should follow up on all requests such as introductions letters, certificates of education, academic status inquires, etc. at least two days after submitting the request.
  • Eligibility to sit the comprehensive examinations shall be subject to dissertation proposal defense and reporting of all grades. Students who have failed to obtain the minimum passing grade in the English language proficiency test at the time of enrollment must provide evidence of having passed the test prior to comprehensive examinations.
  • Change of academic disciplines or institutions by PhD students is prohibited.
  • The minimum passing grade in specialized required and elective courses is 14, and the grade point average of the student must not be below 15.
  • The maximum period of study for PhD programs is 4.5 years. If the student fails to defend their theses within the aforementioned period, they must apply to the Education Office for an extension of the period of study. Applications will be granted only if the student has passed the comprehensive examinations, and their research project has been approved by their supervisor and the department head.
  • The student must enroll in the “dissertation” course every semester after passing all courses and the comprehensive examinations until such time as the student successfully defends their dissertation.
  • Discuss any ambiguity in academic procedures with the staff of the Graduate Education Office for assistance in resolving the matter.

  • Educational information shall be posted on the Education Office bulletin board and published on the Education Office website. Therefore, students are advised to regularly check the Education Office bulletin board and website.
  • Students may enroll in their courses of choice every semester. Therefore, students should take note of course enrollment and add/drop periods.
  • Students should take a course they have failed for any reason in the first semester it is offered.
  • Since all correspondence is carried out through the automation system, students should follow up on all requests such as introductions letters, certificates of education, academic status inquires, etc. in person at least two days after submitting the request.
  • Students must defend their thesis proposals by the end of the third semester.
  • The maximum period of study for masters programs is 3 years. If the student fails to defend their theses within the aforementioned period, they must apply to the Education Office for an extension of the period of study. Applications will be granted only if the student has defended their thesis proposal and their research project has been approved by their supervisor and the department head.
  • The student must enroll in the “thesis” course every semester after passing all courses until such time as the student successfully defends their thesis.
  • Discuss any ambiguity in academic procedures with the staff of the Graduate Education Office for assistance in resolving the matter.
  • The minimum passing grade for required and elective courses is 14.
