The Global Mental Health Action Network (GMHAN) is hosting two upcoming online events focusing on youth mental health, digital wellbeing, and peer support. The sessions will bring together experts and young mental health advocates from different regions to share knowledge, experiences, and practical approaches.

MHForAll Webinar: Online Experiences and Young People’s Wellbeing

The special #MHForAll webinar, titled “Online Experiences and Young People’s Wellbeing,” will explore an increasingly important question in youth wellbeing: how can we move beyond simply protecting young people from the potential harms of the internet and work toward creating online platforms and digital spaces that actively support their wellbeing?

Digital spaces have become an integral part of young people’s lives, influencing how they learn, socialize, develop their identities, build communities, and seek emotional support. While online environments can provide connection, belonging, and access to support, they may also expose young people to challenges such as bullying and harassment, appearance-related pressures, and harmful content.

The webinar will bring together expert speakers from Brazil, Sri Lanka, Uganda, and the United Kingdom to discuss how the impact of online platforms on young people’s wellbeing can be assessed and how digital systems and spaces can be co-designed to better support young people and reduce potential harms.

The event will also feature the launch of GMHAN’s new Need2Know brief on “Online Experiences and Young People’s Wellbeing,” which brings together key information and evidence on this important topic.

Knowledge Exchange: Peer Support in Action

The second upcoming event, “Knowledge Exchange: Peer Support in Action – A Youth-Led Model for Youth Mental Health with Teenergizer,” will focus on how young people can support one another in meaningful and safe ways.

During this session, Teenergizer will share its experience of developing a youth-led peer support model for mental health in the Eastern Europe and Central Asia (EECA) region. The model aims not only to provide accessible mental health support to vulnerable young people but also to create opportunities for young professionals in the mental health field to gain practical experience during their studies and remain engaged in the sector.

Participants will have the opportunity to learn from this experience and gain practical ideas and inspiration that can be adapted and applied to peer-support initiatives in their own contexts.
