The School of Behavioral Sciences and Mental Health -Tehran Institute of Psychiatry- hosted a consultative and planning meeting for the regional Training of Trainers and Supervisors (ToTs) course on the Mental Health Gap Action Program (mhGAP) Intervention Guide, designed for Persian-speaking countries, including Iran, Afghanistan, and Tajikistan.

According to the Secretary of the WHO Collaborating Centre for Mental Health, the meeting was held on Monday, June 29, 2026, with the participation of Dr. Ahmad Hajebi, Dean of the Faculty; Dr. Mahmoud Dehghani, Head of the WHO Collaborating Centre for Mental Health (WHOCC); Dr. Sahar Eshrati, Secretary of the Centre; Dr. Maryam Abbasi-Nejad, Advisor to the Minister of Health and faculty member of Shahid Beheshti University; Dr. Homayoun Amini, faculty member of the University of Tehran; Dr. Fahimeh Lavassani, Acting Vice Dean for Research; Dr. Mojtaba Dehghan, Vice Dean for Education; Dr. Kamil Zahedi, faculty member of the Faculty; Dr. Maryam Tabatabaei, faculty member of the University of Tehran; Dr. Amir Shabani, faculty member of Iran University of Medical Sciences; Dr. Seyed-Vahid Shariat, faculty member of Iran University of Medical Sciences; and Dr. Mozhgan Mahdavi, faculty member of Shahid Beheshti University.

The meeting aimed to introduce the training course, review its objectives and program structure, and benefit from the valuable perspectives and experiences of the participating experts in planning, organizing, and effectively implementing the regional training program.

During the meeting, participants exchanged views and shared their expertise on the training content, topics to be presented by faculty members, allocation of teaching responsibilities, and other academic and logistical considerations related to the course. The discussions contributed to greater coordination and collaboration among the experts involved in organizing and delivering the regional mhGAP ToTs course.
